Kolkata: Amid the ongoing investigation into the Kolkata rape and murder case, Sanjoy Roy, the main accused, reportedly broke down before a judge, insisting on his innocence. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) presented Sanjoy Roy before a Kolkata court, seeking permission to administer a polygraph test on him and other suspects involved in the case.

A lie detection test can only be conducted with the consent of both the court and the suspect.

According to reports, Sanjoy Roy became emotional when the judge inquired why he agreed to the polygraph test. "I haven’t committed any crime. I’m being framed. Maybe this test will prove that," Roy told the court, as quoted by a leading daily.

He explained that he consented to the test because he believed it would prove his innocence. Following this, the court granted permission for the polygraph test on Sanjoy Roy and ordered him to 14 days of judicial custody.

Moreover, the court approved a polygraph test for Sandip Ghosh, the former principal of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, as well as five others connected to the case. These individuals include four doctors who had dinner with the deceased doctor on the night of the incident, along with Roy.
