Kolkata: The horrific rape and murder of a trainee doctor at Kolkata's RG Kar Medical College and Hospital has sparked nationwide protests, enraging people from all walks of life.
The West Bengal government has been facing a lot of backlash for delaying justice and allegedly trying to save those involved.
Amid the ongoing protests and investigations, the West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has announced a 12-hour Bandh in the state to demand capital punishment for the accused; she will lead this bandh.
In a major update, West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee has announced a 12-hour bandh in the state, seeking justice for the victim of the Kolkata Rape and Murder Case.
The bandh has been announced for today, August 16 by the Socialist Unity Centre of India (Communist).
This protest is against the vandalism of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital and also to arrest all those involved in the heinous crime.
This protest comes after a bizarre remark by Mamata's aide and TMC leader Kunal Ghosh who said that rapes happen in other states as well and so this case in particular must not be highlighted. He went on to say, ‘Rape kahan nahin hota…’
