MUDA Scam: Karnataka HC Resume Hearing on Siddaramaiah's Petition Challenging Guv's Order

On the alleged Ghaziabad rape incident against a minor girl, Dinesh Kumar P, Additional Commissioner of Ghaziabad said, "Yesterday, a complaint was received, a rape case was registered in connection with that and the accused was arrested. Today family of the victim is saying that more people could be involved in this crime, we are probing that angle as well. Medical of the girl has been done and the main accused has been arrested. The Tarn Taran Police in a joint operation with the central agency led to the seizure of 4 Glock-19 pistols (one with "Made For Nato Army" imprint), 4 magazines, 7 rounds and Rs 4.8 lakhs Hawala money from accused Harpreet Singh linked to Pakistan-based smuggler. The Punjab Police DGP said that investigation underway to establish backward and forward linkages. 

A woman was injured in a wild bear attack in the Bajarni area of Doda. Associate Hospital of Medical College Doda, Medical Officer, Dr Adil said, "We received a bear attack case around 10 am, from Bajarni. She has sustained scalp injury and skull fracture. She was bleeding a lot, so we shifted her to the minor Operation Theatre. Her treatment is underway."

On the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital rape-murder case, Union Minister Chirag Paswan said, "How disgusting this incident is and the way this incident was carried out, shows the mentality of the person who carried out this incident in such a ruthless manner. Such people have no place in civilized society and strict action should be taken against them. When the President of our country herself expresses concern over such an incident, then the responsibility of those state governments increases, where such incidents were carried out. It is also necessary to understand that the person who carried out this incident was a part of the government system somewhere or the other due to which he had easy access. If you are giving such a system of coming and going to a government department to a person and such a person is getting protection from the government, then this is a matter of concern. Today there are many political parties which use different schemes to make their political cadre a part of the government system. Look at the Aam Aadmi Party in Delhi. Some time back, they had made plans to include their political cadre in systems like police to make them a part of the government system. In such a situation, the incident that was carried out in Bengal, somewhere the political cadre was coming forward with the thought of becoming a part of the government system, which can be very harmful in the coming days."

The CBI officials, probing the RG Kar Hospital doctor rape-murder case, on Thursday stated that two security guards from RG Kar Hospital in Kolkata have undergone polygraph tests in connection with the Kolkata rape and murder case.

On the alleged assault on a woman and minor in the GRP Police Station of Katni, the Superintendent of Police (SP, Railway) Simala Prasad, said, "We have seen the original video, there is a CCTV camera installed in the office here and based on that, TI Arun has been suspended. Along with this, 5 other police personnel who are seen in the video have also been suspended and the entire investigation of this will be done under the supervision of DIG Railways Monika Shukla and the investigation is being done by her."

There will be a capacity for well over 1 lakh tonnes of cargo when the facility opens and it's designed in a modular fashion to grow with the demand. We plan to submit our application for the aerodrome license this year."

On RG Kar woman doctor rape-murder case, Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury said, "Mamata Banerjee does not want this case to be investigated properly because many secrets will come out, she does not want this to happen, so she is trying to divert attention by speaking nonsense and scaring people but people will not get afraid as this has become a mass movement."

On honouring athletes, who won medals at the Olympics, Chhattisgarh CM Vishnu Deo Sai said, "Our government has honoured the players of Chhattisgarh. Along with this, we have also announced that the player from Chhattisgarh who will win the gold medal in the Olympics will be given an incentive amount of Rs 3 crore, the silver medal winner will be given Rs 2 crore and the bronze medal winner will be given Rs 1 crore by the government. They will also be given jobs as per the provision."

On West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee's statement, Kalikesh Singh Deo, BJD MLA said, " It is a shame that political parties are doing politics on heinous crime of rape of a doctor in Kolkata as well as in other states. There has been an increase in crimes across the country. The government of India and respective state governments should take note of this disturbing trend and ensure that proper laws and their implementation are done so that crimes against women get reduced."

Days after she was reprimanded for her controversial remarks on the farmers’ protest, BJP MP Kangana Ranaut met party president JP Nadda at his residence here.

This is the second time that Ranaut has met the BJP president since she stirred a controversy earlier this week with her disparaging remarks on the farmers agitation against the now repealed three farm laws.

India is now the world's largest data market, and Jio has become the global mobile data company with its 490 million customers, using over 30 GB of data on an average per month, Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani said on Thursday.

Speaking at the RIL's 47th annual general meeting, he said India is now the world's largest data market, with Jio lapping up about 8 per cent share in the global traffic and has surpassed major global operators.

"Thanks to Jio, India is now the world's largest data market. Today, Jio carries nearly 8 per cent of global mobile traffic, surpassing even major global operators, including those in the developed markets," Ambani said.

Mukesh Ambani, chairman and managing director, Reliance Industries on Thursday said that Reliance Industries has emerged as the first Indian firm to break past the annual revenue of Rs 10 lakh crore mark. Ambani announced that Reliance Industries clocked annual revenue of Rs 10,00,122 crore.

The company's EBITDA also known as operating profit, stood at Rs 1,78,677 crore while net profit jumped to Rs 79,020 crore. Besides, exports by Reliance stood at Rs 2,99,832 crore, accounting for 8.2 per cent of India's total merchandise exports.

On August 28, Gangavathi Tehsildar ordered the removal of electric poles placed on the road from July Nagar to Maharana Pratap Circle in Gangavathi Nagar. He also suggested filing a case against the Karnataka Rural Infrastructure Development Limited (KRIDL). 

 "Electric poles installed by the KIRDL are built in such a way as to harm religious harmony and sentiments. They are likely to disturb public peace in the city and should be cleared immediately. Tehsildar Nagaraj has suggested filing a case against the KRIDL engineer taking appropriate action and submitting a report," the order said.

 A search operation is underway in the general area of village Kheri Mohra Lathi and Danthal area. During the search operation contact was established with terrorists at about 2345 hrs on August 28, and an exchange of fire took place between terrorists and security forces near the Kheri Mohra area.

 “There was some movement and firing at night. We had no idea what was happening. We just heard firing... we don't know how many militants are there. The local police team has cordoned off the area and conducting operation,” says a local Lucky Thakur.

The Karnataka High Court is set to resume hearing on Chief Minister Siddaramaiah's petition challenging the legality of the Governor Thaawarchand's sanction for his prosecution in the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) case on Thursday.

An encounter broke out in the Khwas area of Rajouri, Jammu and Kashmir,on the wee hours of Thursday, according to sources.

The encounter began after security forces set up an ambush based on the movement of terrorists. The exchange of fire is still ongoing as the situation develops.

Amid ongoing probe in the Kolkata rape-murder case, the Indian Medical Association (IMA) has suspended the membership of Dr. Sandeep Ghosh, the former Principal of RG Kar Medical College. The suspension follows a formal request from the FAIMA (Federation of All India Medical Associations) Doctors' Association.

The disciplinary committee duly constituted by the National President Dr RV Asokan, IMA HQs has unanimously decided to suspend the membership of Dr Sandip Ghosh, vice president, IMA Calcutta Branch, reported news agency ANI.
