Man Gets Life Sentence For Rape Of Four-Year-Old In Up's Sonbhadra

In a significant judgment, a 45-year-old man has been sentenced to life imprisonment for the rape of a four-year-old girl in 2018. The Court of Additional Sessions Judge/Special Judge POCSO Act, Amit Veer Singh, delivered the verdict on Monday, following a thorough investigation and legal proceedings.

The accused, a resident of the same village as the victim, was found guilty of the heinous crime that took place on March 13, 2018. According to the complaint, the man lured the young girl from outside her home to his house, where he committed the assault. The victim, after returning home, reported the incident to her mother, who then notified the authorities.

The police promptly registered an FIR under the provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, and an investigation was initiated. The charge sheet was filed in court, leading to the conviction of the accused.

Judge Amit Veer Singh's sentencing included life imprisonment and a fine of Rs 1 lakh. In addition, if the accused fails to pay the fine, he will face an additional three months of imprisonment.

The verdict reflects the court’s commitment to delivering justice in cases of child sexual abuse and upholding the rights of victims under the POCSO Act.
