Man Killed After Two-wheeler Falls Into 8-Feet Deep Pit In Coimbatore

Man was killed in Coimbatore's Madampatti when he along with the vehicle fell into the eight-foot pit. He succumbed to injuries on head.

Coimbatore: In a tragic road accident,  a 36-year-old man was killed after his two-wheeler fell into an eight-foot-deep pit dug by the Highways Department on Siruvani Road near Coimbatore.

The deceased has been identified as V Karthikeyan, who was working in an automobile accessories company. 

According to officials, the incident happened in Madampatti when the victim along with the vehicle fell into the eight-foot pit. The victim died on the spot after receiving injuries on the head. 

A case has been registered in the matter, officials said. 

Earlier, a 74-year-old woman was killed after the SUV in which they were travelling rammed on the sidewall of the bridge on the Chennai - Bengaluru Highway (NH 44) at Chettiyappanur village. 

The deceased has been identified as P Kamatchi, a native of Bengaluru. 

Kamatchi was traveling with six relatives from Bengaluru to visit their ancestral temple in Valapandal village near Arani town in Tiruvannamalai when the SUV they were in, driven by Siva (28), veered off course and crashed into the sidewall of an elevated bridge on the highway. The accident occurred around 7:30 a.m., and the police reported that the driver had fallen asleep at the wheel, officials said.
