Jaipur: The monsoon is likely to remain active over many parts of eastern Rajasthan for the next four to five days, with a strong possibility of heavy rains in Bharatpur, Jaipur, Kota, Ajmer, and Udaipur divisions, according to the Jaipur Meteorological Centre.

The centre's director, Radheshyam Sharma, highlighted the increasing rainfall activity, particularly in eastern Rajasthan , starting from September 11. "There is a strong possibility of increased heavy rain activities in eastern Rajasthan from September 11," Sharma said. He also mentioned that moderate rainfall is expected in parts of the Bikaner and Jodhpur divisions, while the weather will remain mostly dry in the border areas.

Sharma further explained that the depression formed over the Bay of Bengal had reached northern Chhattisgarh and was likely to move northwestward before weakening by the evening. "Due to its effect, rains will continue in Rajasthan for the next four-five days," he said.

In the 24 hours leading up to Tuesday morning, several districts in the state recorded heavy rainfall, including Dausa, Karauli, Sirohi, Dungarpur, Baran, and Sawai Madhopur. Phaloj in Dungarpur district recorded the highest rainfall with 100 mm, followed by Chauth Ka Barwara in Sawai Madhopur with 94 mm, and Raniwara in Jalore with 59 mm.

Heavy rains in Sawai Madhopur also caused disruption in Ranthambore National Park, where a canter carrying around 20 tourists got stuck. Deputy Forest Conservator (Tourism) Pramod Kumar Dhakad confirmed that the tourists were safely rescued and transported to a safer location.

Between Tuesday morning and 5:30 pm, significant rainfall was recorded across several areas, including 71 mm in Churu, 34.6 mm in Ajmer, 33 mm in Mount Abu, 13 mm in Chittorgarh, 11.5 mm in Dungarpur, 10 mm in Dholpur, 9 mm in Pilani, and 7.5 mm in Dabok, Udaipur.
