Noida: Incessant rain in the hilly regions has led to a sudden rise in river water levels, causing severe flooding in parts of Uttar Pradesh on Monday. In Moradabad, the railway station underpass has been completely submerged, leaving commuters stranded and unable to use the route due to waterlogging. The nearby villages of Bhagatpur, Bhojpur, and Munda Pandey have also been hit by flooding, exacerbating the crisis.

The intense pressure of the water has made the underpass inaccessible, causing significant disruptions for locals who rely on it for travel. Authorities have yet to announce any concrete plans for addressing the flooding in these areas.

Meanwhile, in Prayagraj, the Ganga and Yamuna rivers have swelled for the third time, submerging the entire Sangam area. The rising water has engulfed lower-lying settlements, forcing residents in Baghada, Salori, and Rajapur to evacuate their homes.

"There has been no rescue operations undertaken yet. There has been no electricity in our area. We are not able to study. Action needs to be taken immediately," said Sikander, a villager from Prayagraj, highlighting the lack of relief efforts in the flood-hit areas.

In Ayodhya, the Saryu river has crossed the danger mark, adding to the woes. Central Water Commission Incharge, Aman Raj Singh, confirmed that the river is flowing 53 cm above the danger level due to continuous rain and water releases from dams. He said, “We are expecting the water to be rising today as well.”

The relentless rains have also devastated local agriculture. Farmers, especially in the sugarcane and paddy-growing regions, have reported massive crop losses. Around 60 percent of sugarcane and 70 percent of paddy crops have been damaged, further worsening the impact of the adverse weather conditions.

With more rain expected, the situation remains dire across the affected regions.
