More Than 34 Kg Drugs Seized Near Highway In Gujarat’s Gandhinagar, 1 Held
In a crackdown over narcotic smuggling operations, Central Bureau of Narcotics (CBN) Neemuch and CBN Delhi intercepted a vehicle carrying 34 kg drugs.
Gandhinagar: In a crackdown over narcotic smuggling operations, a joint preventive team of officers from Central Bureau of Narcotics (CBN) Neemuch and CBN Delhi intercepted a car under the bridge situated at Ahmedabad-Himmatnagar Highway in Gandhinagar resulting in the seizure of more than 34 Kgs of drugs.
According to officials, the team recovered 2,73,500 psychotropic tablets weighing 34.2345 kg.
The officials also added that 14,000 tabs of Nitrazepam weighing 2.415 kg, 3,750 tabs of Alprazolam weighing 450.750 grams, and 40 injections of Tramadol were seized from a house in Bhavnagar in Gujarat on Friday.
“One suspect was apprehended under the relevant sections of the NDPS Act 1985 and further investigation is under progress,” police said.
Earlier, Gujarat Home Minister Harsh Sanghavi said that more than 87,000 kilograms of drugs worth Rs 9,600 crore have been seized in Gujarat in the last four years, leading to the arrest of 2,600 persons.
"We are waging a war against this menace. We are launching an anti-drugs campaign to take this fight from the cities to the villages. As part of it, ADGP rank officials will adopt different districts to implement the campaign. Officials will visit districts for a few days every month to conduct awareness programmes and review the progress," Sanghavi said.
According to police data, 2,607 accused persons have been arrested and 87,605 kg of narcotics worth Rs 9,679 seized between 2021 and June 2024.
