Delhi-NCR: As the cold wave continues to grip the Delhi-NCR region, the Gautam Buddh Nagar district administration has announced four days of holidays for students up to Class 8. The school will remain shut from January 3 to 8, according to district administration.
The Gautam Buddh Nagar district administration made the announcement on Tuesday, highlighting that classes will continue for students from Classes 9 to 12.
The schools in the city remained closed for all classes on December 29 and 30 due to the cold weather as the minimum temperature in several districts of Uttar Pradesh dipped to a single digit in the last week of December.
The Delhi-NCR region witnessed dense to very dense fog in the last week of December and during the first two days of the New Year. The India Meteorological Department predicted light rains in western UP from January 3.
On Tuesday, Delhi residents encountered a windy morning as the minimum temperature settled slightly above the usual at 8.3 degrees Celsius. According to the weather department, isolated pockets of the city experienced dense to moderate fog during the day.
December 2023 was the national capital's warmest in six years, with the city not recording a single 'cold wave day' during the month.
