Bhubaneswar: Four more suspended police officers, including SI Baisalini Panda, ASI Salilamayee Sahoo, ASI Sagarika Rath, and IIC Dinakrushna Misra, are likely to undergo a polygraph test in Gujarat tomorrow.

This comes after the Odisha Crime Branch sought permission from the court to conduct the test as part of the ongoing investigation into the alleged custodial assault of an Army officer and his fiancée at the Bharatpur police station in Bhubaneswar.

The officials have given their consent for the test, and the court has approved its conduction. The polygraph test was expected to be a critical step in the investigation.

A court in Odisha 's capital on Wednesday permitted the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to conduct a polygraph test on a suspended police officer accused of torturing an army officer and sexually assaulting his fiancée in custody.

The Sub-Divisional Judicial Magistrate, Somya Ranjan Nayak, also granted CID permission to take Dinakrushna Mishra, the suspended inspector-in-charge of Bharatpur police station, to Gandhinagar, Gujarat , to conduct the polygraph test.

A polygraph test, commonly known as a lie detector test, measures physiological responses to determine if a person is being truthful.

The case revolves around an alleged assault involving Odisha police officials and army personnel. After the incident came to light, the officials involved were suspended pending further investigation.

The polygraph test was being carried out to verify the statements and evidence related to the case.
