New Delhi: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heavy rainfall alert for several regions across India, warning of potential flooding, landslides, and disruptions in the coming days. Orange alert has been issued for several districts of Gujarat and yellow alert in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Assam.

Gujarat to Witness ‘Heavy Rains’
In Gujarat, the southern parts of the state are expected to experience extremely heavy rainfall, with the possibility of flooding and waterlogging. The Saurashtra and Kutch regions are also on alert for heavy rains from September 4 to 7, with particularly intense downpours expected on September 4.
IMD Warns of Potential Flood in Madhya Pradesh
West Madhya Pradesh is likely to face heavy to very heavy rainfall from September 4 to 7, while East Madhya Pradesh is forecast to receive heavy rain on September 4 and 5. Residents in these areas are advised to stay alert and take necessary precautions against potential flooding.
Konkan, Goa, and Maharashtra
The coastal regions of Konkan and Goa, along with parts of Madhya Maharashtra, are set to experience heavy rainfall over the next week. The IMD has warned that the consistent downpours could lead to localized flooding, especially in low-lying areas. Coastal Karnataka is also expected to see heavy rainfall from September 4 to 7, with potential disruptions due to waterlogging.
Rajasthan and These States to Experience Heavy Rainfall
Punjab is likely to have isolated heavy rainfall on September 3, while Rajasthan will see widespread rains throughout the week. East Rajasthan, in particular, is expected to face heavy downpours that could result in significant water accumulation. West Rajasthan is also predicted to receive substantial rainfall from September 4 to 7.
The northern states of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand are forecast to have scattered to widespread rainfall. Uttarakhand is likely to experience heavy rains from September 4 to 6, increasing the risk of landslides in the hilly areas. Residents and authorities are advised to remain vigilant and prepared for emergency situations.
Telangana to Face Waterlogging
Telangana is forecasted to have isolated heavy rainfall on September 4. The state could face waterlogging and minor disruptions, particularly in urban areas where drainage systems may become overwhelmed.
IMD forecast for Northeastern States
The northeastern states, including Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura, are expected to experience heavy rainfall throughout the next seven days. Arunachal Pradesh is forecast to see heavy rains from September 4 to 6. The IMD has warned of possible flash floods and landslides in these regions, urging residents to stay cautious.
