Lucknow: Parliament attack accused Sagar Sharma, who was arrested from inside the Lok Sabha chamber, had modified his shoes in his home in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, confirmed his mother Rani Sharma on Monday, December 18. The Police had earlier confirmed that Sagar carried canisters releasing yellow smoke inside the Parliament by hiding it inside his shoes.

Sagar and Manoranjan had jumped in the Lok Sabha chamber from the visitors’ gallery, while Amol and Neelam were protesting outside the house when the four of them along with Lalit Jha breached parliament’s security on December 13- anniversary of 2001 Parliament attack.

“Yes, he modified the shoes (used to carry smoke canisters inside the Parliament) at home, but I was unaware,” said Sagar’s mother Rani Sharma while speaking with news agency ANI. “I was made to talk to him for only two minutes. His facial expressions showed no remorse… He did not have four bank accounts, I was aware of only two,” she added.

As per reports, the Delhi Police had found a cavity-like cut out in the soles of Sagar’s shoes where he allegedly hid the canisters while entering the Parliament. The Police said that an additional thick rubber layer was attached to the shoes of Sagar at the bottom to support the cavity. Similar cavity cut outs have been found in Manoranjan’s shoes as well.
