New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation on Sunday in the 112th episode of his monthly radio broadcast, Mann ki Baat.
In this episode, the Prime Minister spoke about the ongoing Paris Olympics and encouraged the Indian athletes, emphasizing on the importance of their participation. He also highlighted the PARI Project and the importance of handlooms, and spoke to the students who represented India and excelled in the International Mathematics Olympiad.
Consistently addressing issues pertinent to the youth, PM Modi discussed the critical fight against drugs. He also shared the news of Charaideo Maidam of Assam being recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site, making it the first from the Northeast.
"Charaideo Maidam of Assam is being included in the UNESCO World Heritage Sites. It will be the 43rd site of India, but the first site from the Northeast. Charaideo means a shining city on the hills. It was the first capital of the Ahom dynasty. The people of the Ahom dynasty traditionally kept the mortal remains of their ancestors and their valuables in the Moidams," said Modi during Mann ki Baat.
"Charaideo Maidam becoming a World Heritage Site will attract more tourism. I request you to include this site in your future plans. On March 9 this year, I had the opportunity to unveil the tallest statue of Great Ahom warrior Lachit Borphukan," PM said.
"In the entire world, the Paris Olympics are currently a major focus. Our players have the opportunity to showcase our tri-colour on the world stage and do something for the country. You all should encourage them," said Modi.
“A few days ago, the International Mathematics Olympiad took place, where youth from more than 100 countries participated. Our team was successful in reaching the top five in the overall tally,” Modi said.
The government has taken a significant step in the fight against drugs by opening a special centre called MANAS.
Recently, they launched a helpline and portal for MANAS, along with issuing a toll-free number, 1933. Anyone can call this number to receive essential advice or information related to rehabilitation.
“PARI means Public Art of India. Project PARI is becoming a big medium to bring emerging artists on one platform to make public art popular. These paintings and artworks on the walls, on the roadsides and in the underpasses are made by the artists who are associated with PARI. While this increases the beauty of our public places, it also helps in making our culture more popular”, said PM Modi.
