Police Seizes More Than 23 Kg of Ganja in Andhra, 11 Arrested
11 accused were involved in selling Ganja to youths in various parts of Vijayawada to earn quick money. More than 23 kg of ganja has been recovered.
NTR District: In a stringent action against drug peddlers in the state, police in NTR district arrested 11 individuals involved in ganja-related cases and seized 23.5 kg of ganja along with stolen property worth Rs 2.60 lakh.
According to the police, the accused are addicted to ganja and sell it to youths in various parts of Vijayawada to earn quick money.
Police said that five of them have prior arrests for ganja-related offences.
We have recovered two stolen motorcycles and clothing from the accused. Under the supervision of the City Task Force and Law and Order Police, the "Anti-Narcotic Cell" and Law & Order teams have been gathering information and conducting surveillance on individuals involved in the transportation, sale, purchase, and supply of ganja, said the police.
So far "Anti-Narcotic Cell" has registered 35 cases, arrested 120 individuals, and seized approximately 239 kg of ganja, according to the police.
Earlier, Union Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurated the zonal office of the Narcotics Control Bureau in Chhattisgarh's Raipur on Sunday.Amit Shah also attended the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) the review meeting held in Raipur.
Speaking at the event, Shah said, "It is the responsibility of all of us that, with the attitude of zero tolerance, we make the country narcotics- and drug-free and fulfil the resolution of the Prime Minister. I am confident that this zonal office of the Narcotics Control Bureau will play an important role in narcotics control. We have set a target to establish a Narcotics Control Bureau in every state in the country."
