Morena: In a commendable action, a team from the State Disaster Emergency Response Force (SDERF) rescued a pregnant woman who went into labor on Friday. Her home was surrounded by floodwaters from the overflowing Asan River.
The SDRF teams took her to a hospital in Madhya Pradesh 's Morena district. A pregnant woman in Ghuraiya Basai village went into labor, but the ambulance was unable to reach her because the village was completely surrounded by floodwaters.
Village Was Surrounded By Floodwaters
SDERF Platoon Commander Deepak Rathore reached the village with his team with a motor boat, rescued the woman out of the village and sent her to hospital with the help of an ambulance.
"We received information from the DM control room that a woman in Ghuraiya Basai village is pregnant and needed to be rescued from the village, which was surrounded from all sides by water due to the overflowing Asan river. We rescued her and sent her to the district hospital with the help of an ambulance," Rathore was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.
Due to heavy rains in Madhya Pradesh , the gates of multiple dams across the state have been opened. After the gates of Pagara Dam in Morena were released, the Asan River began to overflow, causing nearby villages in the Morena district to be trapped in a flood-like scenario.
