Red Alert Issued in Karnataka and Odisha, Orange in Gujarat for Today; Check Weather Update

New Delhi: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for Karnataka and Odisha and an orange alert for Gujarat and three other states, predicting heavy rainfall.
The IMD weather update comes amid the Cyclone Asna that will have an impact on the Gujarat Rains and a rare cyclonic storm intensifying over Arabian Sea.
Red Alert in Karnataka and Odisha
The India Meteorological Department has predicted very heavy rainfall in several states across the country and has also issued a red alert for the states of Odisha and Karnataka.
Heavy rainfall can also be expected by those living in Kerala, Mahe, Coastal Karnataka, North Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Chhattisgarh and Vidarbha.
Orange Alert for Gujarat and 3 Other States
The IMD has also issued an orange alert for the Porbandar, Jamnagar, Dwarka, Kutch districts and the Saurashtra region of Gujarat along with Telangana, Kerala, Coastal Andhra Pradesh and south interior Karnataka.
Speaking of Gujarat Rains, the intermittent rains are being attributed to a deep depression over Saurashtra and Kutch region. A deep depression over the Saurashtra and Kutch areas is expected to intensify into Cyclone Asna on Friday, marking a rare prevalence for August.
IMD Weather Update for Parts of India
For other parts of India, the weather department has predicted heavy rains from Sept 2-4 in the ghat areas of central Maharashtra, Goa and Konkan and heavy showers from Sept 1-3 over Marathwada region.
Heavy rain is also predicted on Sept 2 in Delhi-NCR, Chandigarh, Himachal Pradesh and East Rajasthan.
Uttarakhand is likely to experience rain from Aug 30-Sept 2, Uttar Pradesh will witness showers on Sept 1-2 and there will be rain across Rajasthan on Set 1-4.
All About Cyclone Asna
The Cyclone Asna is about to shape over the Arabian Sea on Friday, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
The cyclone, named Asna, will be the first of its type in August given that 1976. It is anticipated to travel from the Saurashtra-Kutch location of Gujarat in the direction of the Oman coast.
In view of the cyclonic storm making strong waves on Kandla coast in Gujarat, an alert has been issued. Meanwhile, authorities have carried out rescue operation in the area.
