Kolkata: Troubles continue to mount for Sandip Ghosh, the former principal of RG Kar Medical Hospital, who spent his first night in CBI custody yesterday in restless conditions, as per media report citing sources.

They said that Ghosh struggled to sleep during his first night in custody, adding that it's natural for anyone who has never spent time in custody to take time to adjust.

Security is tight with four CRPF personnel stationed inside and outside Ghosh's lockup. The former principal was arrested by the investigating agency on Tuesday in connection with alleged financial misconduct. He is expected to remain in the agency's custody for at least seven days before he is produced before in court again on September 10.

This comes as the chorus continues to grow for justice for Kolkata trainee doctor who was raped and murdered at the state-run RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata, the parents of the victims also joined in the protest weeks after the horrific incident.

In a shocking revelation, the aggrieved parents alleged that the Kolkata Police initially tried to suppress the incident as they cremated their daughter's body in a hurry and also offered them a bribe to withdraw the case.

Narrating the ordeal from the protest site of RG Kar Hospital, the victim's father claimed the Tala Police forced them to cremate the body despite their (the family’s) repeated requests to not do so. He added that he along with his wife were made to wait for 3 hours outside the Seminar Hall where her daughter's body was found while others were moving in and out without restriction.

Furthermore, the father alleged that he approached the cops to file an FIR between 6-7 pm but it was finally registered at 11.45 pm.

“The police, from the very beginning, tried to hush up the case. We were not allowed to see the body and had to wait at the police station while the body was taken for post-mortem examinations. Later, when the body was handed over to us, a senior police official offered us money, which we immediately declined,” news agency PTI quoted the victim's father as saying.
