Pune: A speeding black SUV crashed into a tempo truck in Pune, injuring three people. The car was allegedly driven by the son of former corporator and Sharad Pawar's party leader Bandu Gaikwad, PTI reported.
The incident occurred during the wee hours of Tuesday when Saurabh was driving the SUV on the wrong side at Z Corner on Majari -Mundhwa Road in Pune.
In the accident, the tempo driver and cleaner sustained injuries, a senior police official said.
According to the report, Saurabh Gaikwad, the son of Bandu Gaikwad was also injured in the accident.
In response to this accident, the Pune police at Hadapsar station filed a case against Saurabh Gaikwad under Sections 281, 125(a) and 125(b) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with other relevant sections including 184, 134(a), and 134(b) of the Motor Vehicle Act.
Earlier this month, 24-year-old Mihir Shah, son of senior Shiv Sena leader Rajesh Shah was arrested for killing Kaveri Nakhwa (45) and leaving her husband, Pradeep, injured in Mumbai's Worli area after he allegedly rammed his BMW into their bike.
On Tuesday, a Mumbai Court remanded Mihir Shah to ab 14-day judicial custody.
On May 19, a Porsche car allegedly driven by a minor crashed into a bike killing two IT professionals in Pune's Kalyani Nagar. As per reports, the minor was under the influence of alcohol when he was driving the car.
There was a nationwide uproar after JJB granted bail to the accused on very lenient terms, including writing a 300-word essay on road safety.
