Visakhapatnam: In an alleged suicide pact, four members of a family died after consuming poison in Anakapalle district in Andhra Pradesh whereas another is said to be critical.
The deceased have been identified as Siva Ramakrishna (40), his wife Madhavi (38), and two daughters. The survivor is their third daughter who is said to be critical, police said. After receiving the information, a police team rushed to the spot.
Police suspect that financial hardship was the reason behind the family taking this extreme step. The preliminary investigation revealed that Ramakrishna, a goldsmith and a resident of Tenali town of Guntur district, shifted to Anakapalle town a few years ago for work where he lived with his family in a flat.
Police said they might have consumed the poison on Thursday night, following which four of them died. A case has been registered in connection with the deaths. Further investigation into the matter is underway.
