Two Civil Supplies Officials Caught Red-Handed Taking Bribe in Punjab, Arrested

Punjab Vigilance Bureau arrested Civil Supplies Officials in Barnala as they were accepting a bribe of Rs 1 lakh.

Chandigarh: Two inspectors of Punjab State Civil Supplies Corporation Limited (PUNSUP) accepting a bribe of Rs 1,00,000 were caught red-handed by the Vigilance Bureau in the Barnala district.  

The two accused officials of the PUNSUP have been identified as Jaspal Singh and Praveen Kumar.

According to the Punjab Vigilance Bureau spokesperson, a complaint was received at the Vigilance Bureau where it was alleged that these officials were demanding a bribe of Rs 1,00,000 from the complainant and threatened that they would issue a recovery notice to him to pay a huge amount of money in lieu of shortage of wheat during transportation through the trucks in the last season.

The arrest was made in the presence of two official witnesses.

According to the spokesperson, a case under the Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against both the accused officials at VB police station Patiala range. The accused would be produced in the competent court tomorrow and further investigation into this case was under progress.
