Two Minors Found Dead in Water-filled Pit in Bihar's Patna
Bodies of both the kids were found in a water-filled pit near an under-construction bridge in Beur area, an official said.
Patna: In a tragic incident, the bodies of two children were recovered from a water-filled pit here on Monday morning, police said.
Patna SSP Rajeev Mishra said the parents in their complaint to Gardani Bagh police station said the kids were last seen around 11 am on Sunday.
“Police launched a search operation to trace the kids. Finally, around 6.30 am on Monday, the bodies of both the kids were found in a water-filled pit near an under-construction bridge in Beur area,” Patna SSP Rajeev Mishra said.
The police official added that as per the initial investigation, it appears to be a case of drowning. "The District Magistrate has been informed, and necessary procedures are being followed," Mishra added.
Family claims Children were 'Murdered'
Meanwhile, family members and local residents alleged foul play, suggesting the children were murdered. Some attempted to block traffic on the Beur-Patna road in protest, but were dispersed by police.
The police are investigating the matter with the dog squad and the forensics department has been called to search the area. No arrest has been made till now.
The Bihar government has also announced a compensation of Rs 4 lakh if it is found that the deaths of the two kids were due to drowning.
