Ujjain Police arrested a 42-year-old for allegedly shooting a video of a ragpicker who was allegedly raped on a footpath in broad daylight
Ujjain: Ujjain Police, on Saturday, arrested a 42-year-old man named Mohammad Salim for allegedly shooting a video of a ragpicker who was allegedly raped on a footpath in broad daylight on Friday in the city.
Salim, 42 years, resident of Prakash Nagar in Nagda was found to have a previous criminal record. Cops said Salim's mobile was being thoroughly examined and a case has been registered against the accused under BNS 72, 77, 294, 67 IT Act, Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act Section 4.
A woman working as a scrap collector was allegedly raped by a man on a footpath during broad daylight after he forcefully fed her alcohol in the Agar Naka area of Madhya Pradesh 's Ujjain on Friday.
The incident came to light after a video of the rape, shot by unidentified persons, went viral on social media, Kotwali Area's City Superintendent of Police (CSP) Om Prakash Mishra said.
"Accused Lokesh promised to marry her, made her drink liquor and then raped her on Wednesday. Some people who were passing by shot videos of the incident instead of stopping the crime. Lokesh later fled from the spot. After the woman filed a complaint when the effect of alcohol wore off, Lokesh was arrested," he said.
