Rahul Gandhi ’s Remarks In US
Rahul Gandhi , the Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha, stated that the Congress party would consider ending reservations in India only when the country reaches a "fair place," provided they are voted into power.
“If you look at the Indian government, there are 70 bureaucrats who run the government… Of the 70 people, there is no tribal, three Dalits and three OBCs, a minority… The fact is they are not getting participation. We will think of ending reservation when India is a fair place. And India is not a fair place,” Gandhi said while interacting with students of Georgetown University.
BJP Slams Rahul Gandhi over His ‘Ending Reservations’ Remark
BJP ’s national spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla said that Gandhi family was always against the reservations to the backward and marginalized communities and historical evidence points towards that.
" Rahul Gandhi has reflected his political and family DNA regarding reservation, on foreign land. He spoke about ending reservations by Ambedkar ji. His family did that. In 1961, Nehru Ji said that reservation was wrong. He had said that it makes people second-class. Rajiv Gandhi and Indira Gandhi opposed the Mandal Commission and its report. Rajiv Gandhi had said that those who are given reservations are fools," Poonawalla was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.
