UP Shocker: Young Woman Kidnapped, Murdered In Bareilly; Body Found In Ditch

Bareilly: A horrific and upsetting incident came to light from UP's Bareilly after a 22-year-old female was allegedly kidnapped, murdered, and then thrown in a pothole on Sunday night. 

According to reports,  the victim identified as Lakshmi went missing on Sunday night (July 14). 

Her body was found floating in a water-filled ditch on the roadside on Monday morning, twelve hours after her missing complaint was registered, the police said. 

ASP (North) Mukesh Chandra Mishra on Monday said the police received information that on Sunday night Lakshmi Devi (22), a resident of Sardar Nagar under the Nawabganj police station, was going home with her cousin sister on a scooty when on the way, the car riders forcibly made her sit in the car and took her away. 

The girl was murdered in the Hafizganj area of the district and on Monday morning, her body was found floating in a water-filled ditch on the roadside. Her throat and fingers were also found cut, ASP Mishra said.

Disturbing Video of Deceased's Family

On social media, disturbing images of her family members mourning her death, and sitting next to her body on the road surfaced. According to reports, the body was found on Monday. 

The video has been posted by @SachinGuptaUP on X (formerly known as Twitter). In his tweet, he wrote, "Lakshmi, a 22-year-old girl, was riding a scooter with her aunt's daughter to return home in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, last night." 

Lakshmi was allegedly kidnapped by individuals in a car while travelling. That same evening, the family filed a police complaint against Monu Gupta and others. The dead body of the girl was found this morning."

Statements Of Family Members

According to reports from Lakshmi's relatives, on Sunday night, Lakshmi and her cousin Sapna went for shopping and were riding a scooter close to Hafizganj. 

Monu Gupta and his wife came in a car, stopped the scooter, and allegedly kidnapped Lakshmi. Sapna rushed to the home and informed her family about the incident. 

In a missing person's report, Lakshmi's family claimed the pair had abducted Lakshmi. 

Police notified Lakshmi's family earlier on Monday that her body had been found in a pothole along Faizullahpur Road in Hafizganj.

The accused couple reportedly were residents of Nawabganj. The police officer said a case has been registered on the complaint of the deceased's family and an investigation is being carried out.
