DTC Bus Goes Up in Flames in Delhi's Jagatpuri, Passengers Evacuated

New Delhi: Passengers onboard a Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) bus had a clove shave as it caught fire at Jagatpuri area in Shahdara district in the national capital on Thursday morning, amid rain.
Visuals have surface online wherein the bus can be seen engulfed by the flames. In the video, huge plumes of smoke was seen billowing out the blue-coloured bus. The fire incident caused a traffic jam for several kilometers in the Jagatpuri, Preet Vihar, and Patparganj areas.
According to sources, the DTC bus was carrying passengers when the fire erupted. The bus was stopped immediately after a passerby alerted the bus driver about the fire. The passengers were evacuated in time.
After receiving information about the fire, the Delhi fire department pressed fire tenders into service and launched a firefighting operation.
There were no immediate reports about any injuries. The exact cause behind the fire is yet to be ascertained. More details are awaited.
