Video: Disgruntled Ola EV Customer Sets Showroom on Fire Over Poor Support
Following a heated altercation with the showroom’s customer support team, Nadeen allegedly used petrol to ignite the showroom, causing massive damage.
Bengaluru: Frustrated over inadequate customer support for a newly purchased electric vehicle (EV), Mohammad Nadeen, a 26-year-old mechanic, set fire to an Ola showroom in Kalaburgi. A video of the incident which took place yesterday has been going viral on social media.
Nadeen, who had bought the e-bike just a month ago, reported experiencing technical issues with the vehicle’s battery and sound system within the first 1-2 days of purchase. Despite numerous visits to the showroom seeking repairs, Nadeen claimed that his grievances were not addressed adequately by the customer support staff.
Following a heated altercation with the showroom’s customer support team, Nadeen allegedly used petrol to ignite the showroom, causing massive damage. The blaze destroyed six vehicles and computer systems, resulting in a financial loss estimated at Rs. 8.5 lakhs. Nadeen had initially spent Rs. 1.4 lakhs on the purchase of the EV.
The Kalaburgi police have registered a case against Nadeen, who has been arrested in connection with the arson.
