IMD Predicts Heavy Rainfall in Mizoram
Mizoram has been grappling with heavy rainfall since August 20, leading to landslides and landslips in several regions. The monsoon has reached its peak in the state, Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for August 29, forecasting heavy to moderate rainfall in coming days.

Schools Closed due to Torrential Rains and Landslides
In response to the worsening weather conditions, the Mizoram government ordered the closure of schools in four districts. The district administrations of Aizawl, Lunglei, Hnahthial, and Mamit issued public notices on Wednesday, announcing that all schools would remain closed as a precaution.
This follows a pattern of school closures in the state due to adverse weather. Last week, schools were shut for five consecutive days in Aizawl and Kolasib districts, and for several days in Siaha district in southern Mizoram.
Since March of this year, at least 42 people have lost their lives in landslides and other natural disasters across the state, according to the state disaster management and rehabilitation department.
