New Delhi: As the monsoon season winds down, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast light to moderate rainfall across several regions of the country, but no heavy rain alerts for September 20. The withdrawal of the monsoon is expected to bring sporadic showers in the coming days, offering relief from recent downpours.

Delhi to See Cloudy Skies, Mild Temperatures

In Delhi, residents can expect partly cloudy skies throughout the day. The maximum temperature is expected to reach around 34°C, while the minimum will stay at 23°C, keeping the weather relatively mild.

Recent rain showers have also contributed to an improvement in the capital’s air quality. According to the Central Pollution Control Board, Delhi registered an AQI of 90 at 6:30 AM, placing it in the 'satisfactory' range. However, this marks a slight deterioration from the previous day, with the AQI rising by 27 points. Elsewhere, Karwar in Karnataka reported the country’s best air quality with an AQI of 22, while Gujarat ’s Nandesari recorded the worst at 208.

Central India to Experience Rain Spells Until September 26

The IMD predicts that Central India will witness scattered to fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall until September 26. Isolated heavy showers are forecast for Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh between September 23 and 25, while Vidarbha is expected to receive rain on September 24 and 25.

Wet Weather Likely in East and Northeast India

In the eastern and northeastern regions, fairly widespread rain is on the cards. The Andaman & Nicobar Islands are expected to experience isolated heavy rain on September 20, while Odisha will likely see the same on September 22 and 23. Additionally, Nagaland , Manipur , Mizoram , and Tripura are set to receive heavy rainfall between September 22 and 25, with further wet conditions predicted for Arunachal Pradesh , Assam , and Meghalaya from September 23 to 25.

Scattered Rain Predicted for Northwest India

Northwest India is forecast to receive light to moderate rainfall, though it will be limited to scattered areas. The rain is expected to continue across the region until September 26, as per the IMD's projections.

South and West India to See Mixed Weather

In South and West India, a mix of scattered light to moderate rainfall is expected throughout the week. The IMD highlights that regions such as Konkan & Goa , Marathwada, Rayalaseema, Coastal Karnataka, and North Interior Karnataka will see fairly widespread rainfall. Meanwhile, hot and humid conditions are likely to persist in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry on September 20.

As the monsoon gradually withdraws, most parts of the country will experience mild to moderate showers, bringing a mix of relief and continued caution as some regions remain prone to isolated heavy rainfall.
