In a positive way to wrap up the year, a post from the team of forest heroes in Tamil Nadu completed an incredible work by reuniting a lost baby elephant with the mother elephant and herd at the Anamalai Tiger Reserve in Pollachi. This heartwarming rescue effort was cheered on social media as it was shared by IAS officer Supriya Sahu. She was praised by many and also got a token of appreciation from Anand Mahindra.
The saga unfolded when forest teams discovered a lone baby elephant, desperately searching for its mother. With the help of drones and the expertise of seasoned forest watchers, officials successfully located the elephant herd. Sharing videos of this extraordinary operation, IAS officer Supriya Sahu expressed, “The year ends on a heartwarming note for us at TN (Tamil Nadu) Forest Department, as our foresters united a lost baby elephant with her mother and the herd after rescue in the Anamalai Tiger Reserve, Pollachi.”
“The little calf was found searching for the mother when field teams spotted her. With the help of drones and experienced forest watchers, the herd was located, and the tiny calf was safely reunited. Teams are still on the ground for monitoring,” she added.
The initial clip shared by Sahu showcased the officers rescuing the baby calf, while the third and final clip captured the heartening moment of the baby elephant in close proximity to its mother.
Commending the team, Anand Mahindra extended his appreciation, stating, "Bravo @supriyasahuias! You have demonstrated that compassion and technology are a powerful combination that can help humans be peaceful cohabitants of this planet. Make a short film out of this wonderful story, please."
