Vande Bharat Sleeper Coaches Set for Dispatch from Bengaluru’s BEML – Launch Date and Features Here

Bengaluru: Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw recently unveiled the prototype of the Vande Bharat sleeper coach at BEML's facility in Bengaluru, on Sunday. 

The new coaches will undergo extensive trials over the next 10 days before being put into further testing, with passenger operations expected to commence within three months.

Vaishnaw also inaugurated the foundation stone for a new Vande Bharat manufacturing facility at the Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML) site in Bengaluru.

Comfortable, Easy long distance travel, Speed

The Vande Bharat trains are slated to replace the Rajdhani Express, offering a more comfortable long-distance travel experience. Designed for speeds of up to 180 kmph during testing and averaging 160 kmph during regular service, these trains aim to significantly cut down travel time. For instance, the Mumbai Rajdhani, which currently takes about 15 hours and 32 minutes to travel 1,386 km between Mumbai and New Delhi, will benefit from the Vande Bharat’s semi-high-speed capabilities.

Features

The new Vande Bharat sleeper train features world-class amenities, including GFRP panels, a sensor-based interior, automatic exterior doors, an ergonomically designed odor-free toilet system, communication doors, and a spacious luggage area.

Coaches and Design

The train will consist of multiple coach types: 4 AC 2-tier coaches with 188 berths, 11 AC 3-tier coaches with 611 berths, and 1 AC First Class coach with 24 berths.

Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said, "Four trains, Vande Chair Car, Vande Sleeper, Vande Metro and Amrit Bharat have been designed in a way to address many things, like modern technology, safety and special facilities for loco pilots and service staff. This is a means of transport for middle-class people, so its fare will be affordable'
