As the winter chill intensifies across Northern India, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issues a red alert for dense fog in several states, including Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, and Uttar Pradesh. The following is a comprehensive weather update for the affected regions:

Gautam Buddha Nagar Weather Alert: Dense Fog and Cold Day Conditions

The IMD predicts dense to very dense fog in many North Indian states until January 2. Gautam Buddha Nagar, part of the Delhi-NCR region, is expected to experience dense fog coupled with cold day conditions over the next 24 hours. Additionally, scattered light rain and snowfall are forecasted in the Western Himalayas between December 31 and January 1. Sporadic light rain is also expected in Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh from January 1 to 3.

January 2 Forecast: Persistent Fog and Cold in Northwest and Central India

According to the IMD, dense to very dense fog will persist over many parts of the northwest and adjoining plains of Central India until January 2. The fog is anticipated to extend to East India, gradually tapering off thereafter. Cold day conditions are expected to continue until January 2 in parts of Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and North Rajasthan. Light to moderate rain is predicted in South Tamil Nadu, South Kerala, and Lakshadweep from December 31 to January 4.

Rain Forecast in Several States: Unseasonal Rain Expected

Unseasonal rain is expected in many parts of Northern India between January 1 and 3. This is unusual, considering that winter cold typically subsides in January in states like Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. Over the next 24 hours, light rain is likely in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, parts of Lakshadweep, southern islands of Andaman and Nicobar, and Northeast India.

Dense Fog Conditions in Punjab, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh

The IMD warns of dense to very dense fog conditions in many parts of Punjab from December 31 to January 2. Similar conditions are predicted over Haryana, Chandigarh, and Uttar Pradesh during the same period. Isolated parts of Rajasthan and Uttarakhand are also expected to experience dense to very dense fog, while Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and several Eastern states will witness dense fog for a few hours on January 1.

The IMD advises residents in affected regions to stay informed about weather updates and take necessary precautions.
