Bengaluru-based cab-hailing major Ola has launched the 2018 edition of its 'Heroes of Ola', a multi-city webisode program that captures real-life inspiring stories of their driver-partners and felicitates them for their inspirational work ethic and admirable behaviour.
This year too, the methodology included customers sending in their appreciation for drivers on social media, email and via the Ola app, and there are some serious contenders!
Ola's first Hero this year is Delhi-based Gopal Yadav, who has been a driver-partner at the company since 2013!
A customer Ganesh Nair narrates a story from February about how he was in the national capital to attend a wedding. He booked an Ola. As they moved towards the venue, their car hit unusual traffic. Having come to a standstill, both Gopal Yadav and Ganesh Nair realised that the traffic had stopped because a car a little ahead of them was on fire! Taking action immediately, Gopal told Ganesh that he had a fire extinguisher in the car and asked his customer's permission to go and put out the fire in the car ahead of them.
Ganesh Nair says he was touched not only by Gopal's initiative to help out people who were clearly in trouble, but also the fact that he asked for permission before he did.
