Raid De Himalaya: The Highest Motor-sport Event In The World

Raid De Himalaya, the highest motor-sport event in the world started in 1999 with just 16 participants. Considered to be among top 10 toughest rallies of the world. Each year nearly 200 competitors take on this challenge and test their mettle against the grueling conditions the might Himalayas throws at them. Raid De Himalaya takes participants through some of the highest passes and most treacherous roads known to man. 

33 teams for Xtreme cars and trucks, 37 teams for Xtreme motorcycles and quads, 12 bikers in the Alpine two-wheeler category and 31 teams in Adventure Trail, which follows the Time-Speed-Distance format, are going to battle out on the highest reaches of the Himalayas.

The 20th edition of this gargantuan high-speed rally is entering unchartered territories bringing about new sights, sounds & adventures. The most grueling rally raid offers snow-capped mountains in the distance, picturesque valleys below and the best vistas of the world. The participants will traverse through sub-zero temperatures, frozen riverbeds, blizzards, earthquakes, and snowstorms. The unrelenting cold, oxygen starvation, and sleep deprivation cannot deter the enthusiasm and zeal of the riders and they are ready for the most impossible roads of Kargil, Zanskar, and Jammu and Kashmir. 

The rallyists adrenaline rush will always be on the high as they are going to race on a newly-upgraded road which was a mule track previously. Deemed to be the most spectacular stretches globally, the rally raid features more than 50 hairpin curves and dangerous drop-offs.

All members of HMA have been associated with motorsport for the last 20 to 30 years as rally drivers or organizers, across the country. Many are qualified Scrutineers and Stewards who have current Scrutineer and Steward licenses from the FMSCI

The Himalayan Motorsport Association is a Council Member Club of the Federation of Motorsports Clubs of India (FMSCI), Chennai. About 500 clubs are members of the Federation of which eight are appointed as Council Members

Other events run by HMA include the Dhorra Kross (Desert 4 x 4 training in Rajasthan) and the Ice Kross (Snow and Ice 4 x 4 training in Himachal/ Kashmir). Both these events are organized annually and showcase HMA's expertise in the field of cross-country driving.
