First, women trying to find even basic skin care products are often caught in an unrewarding cycle of experimentation. Stylecraze.com, an online beauty and wellness community of over 30 million women, had direct insight into this problem over the last 5 years.
Active engagement with users, both on their website and social media, led Stylecraze to understand that each person’s skin is unique. In fact, people born into the same family have different skin characteristics; people living the same lifestyle have different skin issues. Even twins have different skin behavioural patterns. That’s because skin types, skin issues, skin support systems, pigmentation levels, skin damage levels, hydration levels and several other aspects make each person’s skin unique and therefore needs to be addressed uniquely.
So, a generic product, mass-produced by an FMCG company cannot be the most effective approach to skin care. In fact, these products encourage trial and error skin care where one ends up damaging their skin in the long term leading to premature ageing of the skin.
This led to one of its kind, customized Skincare brand – Skinkraft.

At SkinKraft, skin care starts with the customer. Through a holistic assessment of the customer’s skin, similar to a dermatologist assessment, the customer’s skin profile is created. A skin profile is a skin type and skin concern specific picture that analyses the customer’s current skin requirements. With this information, the customer is classified into one of 72 broad profiles each of which breaks down into thousands of combinations.
Based on this, a detailed analysis is given to the customer in which the problem areas are explained along with the ingredients required to manage their skin. Then a customized skin care regimen is recommended to the customer which includes ingredients corresponding to the specific requirements as outlined in the customer’s skin profile.
Created with the aim to chart a customized skincare regime for every woman, SkinKraft has already assisted over 2 lakh women with their skin concerns within a short span of 3 months.
What’s In A SkinKraft Box?
Each SkinKraft customized regimen consists of a cleanser, a moisturizer, and a skin issue specific product. All SkinKraft products are backed by over 10,000 hours of intensive research and collaboration with Indian, Taiwanese and Japanese dermato-cosmetologists, pharmacists and pharmaceutical engineers. SkinKraft’s products are designed to be gentle on the skin and are free of harmful chemical compounds and irritants such as parabens, phthalates, SLS and formaldehyde. The products are also cruelty-free and are ethically manufactured.
Skin 2025 - What’s Next In Customization
SkinKraft predicts that in the next 5-10 years consumption patterns in the beauty industry will shift significantly from mass-produced products to customized products across segments like skin, hair, colour among others. This is because of the confluence of three significant trends: mass internet adoption enabling feedback loops and user input, AI enabled understanding of ingredient effectiveness and modern manufacturing technologies.
