Patience, accuracy and a zeal to drive comprised the recipe for success at PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s Women Car Rally 2019. The 7th edition of the rally was flagged off on 29th March from PHD House in New Delhi.
Distinguished personalities present at the flag off ceremony comprised Chaudhary Birender Singh, Union Minister of Steel, Madhulika Rawat, President, Army Wives Welfare Association, Dr Manu Bhatnagar, President, CRPF Family Welfare Association and Neelam Kapur, Director General, Sports Authority of India.
Rajeev Talwar, President, PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry said, “Specific aims with which the Car Rally is being held comprise to recognize the selfless efforts of women from all walks of life and multiple sections of society. The PHDCCI is the only industry association which is holding the second consecutive Women Car Rally.”
Over 150 women wheeled to power to promote the cause of Menstrual hygiene.
Participants traversed a total of 700Kms in two legs to complete the course of the rally. On 30th March, they drove from Delhi to Dehradun and on 31st March from Dehradun to Chandigarh. A Time-Speed-Distance rally, tested teams on their mental strength and physical endurance. The drivers briefing was presided over by experts from Raid de Himalayas and Desert Storm. The Women Car Rally followed the regulations set by the Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India (FMSCI).
The rally culminated in Chandigarh with the felicitation of winners and left participants empowered to take on the road. PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s Women Car Rally elevated confidence, unleashed the competitive spirit and gave a boost to the participation of women in motorsports.
