Union HRD Minister and BJP Karnataka poll in-charge Prakash Javadekar has rubbished an alleged audio tape of mining baron Gali Janardhana Reddy offering a bribe to Congress MLA Basanagouda Daddal.

Addressing media over the furore caused by the alleged bribe conversation, Javadekar termed it as the work of the Congress' dirty tricks department.

Javadekar said that the Congress is resorting to such 'falsehoods' as they are going to face defeat in the all-important floor test scheduled in the Karnataka Assembly at 4 pm on Saturday.

In the unverified tape which has been accessed by Republic TV, one person is telling the other that they can 'ask for any position'. He adds that he can arrange for a one-on-one with senior leaders. To this, the purported Congress leader says, 'It would be wrong to betray as I won because of Congress ticket'

The tape has caused a massive controversy ahead of the critical floor test which is scheduled for 4 pm on Saturday.

Javadekar also addressed the controversy over the appointment of KG Bopaiah as pro tem Speaker of the Karnataka Assembly, over which the Congress plans to move the Supreme Court, by reiterating what he'd tweeted a short while earlier:
