Congress leader Sanjay Nirupam who made an atrocious comment shortly after BS Yeddyurappa resigned as Karnataka Chief Minister when he compared the Karnataka Governor, Vajubhai Vala, to a dog, has issued what he may think is a clarification, but in reality is anything but.

Earlier, while celebrating the events in the Karnataka Assembly, Nirupam had said the following:

"Vajubhai Vala has created a milestone. From now on, every Indian will name their dogs after Vajubhai Vala as no one is as loyal as he is."

The shameful statement followed days of ceaseless attacks by the Congress party on the Governor for his decision to invite Yeddyurappa and the BJP to form a government in Karnataka and not the Congress-JD(S) post-poll alliance. The BJP had emerged as the single-largest party in the Karnataka elections. The Rahul Gandhi-led party was also outraged when the Governor made BJP MLA KG Bopaiah the pro tem Speaker in the Karnataka Assembly ahead of the Congress' RV Deshpande.

After Nirupam's remark triggered an outrage, he tweeted the following:

This translates as:

"Vajubhai Vala is a man. How can I make him a dog? Yes, in showing loyalty he has left even dogs behind. Still, if this opinion isn't liked then excuse me. As such, he left no stone unturned in murdering democracy. He should resign."

Nirupam's remarks come at a time when Congress president Rahul Gandhi has been attacking the BJP for making personal attacks and has been waxing lyrical about how his party practices the politics of love.
