Karnataka chief minister-designate HD Kumaraswamy has hit right back at Amit Shah after the BJP party president termed the Congress-JD(S) alliance that looks set to form a government in the state "unholy".

Shah had cited how the BJP had emerged the single-largest party in the polls, results of which came out one week ago, and had said that the people's mandate was against the Congress and JD(S) who were celebrating losing seats.

Taking exception to Shah's remarks, Kumaraswamy has written the following:

YOUR OPINION IS UNHOLY Mr AMIT SHAH JI

It will be one week after Karnataka election results are announced and during this period, BJP national president Mr Amit Shah ji had literally disappeared.

Today, I noticed Mr Shah ji appearing before media and criticising coalition in Karnataka. Mr Shah ji has asked “what are you celebrating?” Since a secular government is being formed, keeping a communal party, which rules by dividing people on the lines of caste and religion at arms distance, we are celebrating.

According to you, Congress-JDS is unholy alliance. Then, which is Holy Alliance? Was it trying to purchase legislators elected on other party symbol? Trying to trade other party legislators? Since no one got majority, secular parties came together and there is a common philosophy behind it. This philosophy is to protect everyone’s interest and if you think this is unholy alliance, your thought process is unholy.

Though you knew BJP did not had majority and forming such government would fall, in a hurry, you declared Mr Yeddyurappa ji as Chief minister. At the end, you insulted him by making him resign and through that, BJP has insulted one entire community represented by Mr Yeddyurappa ji

It was like testing depth of water by pushing other’s children in to well. Now, you are arguing that you should have formed the government since you were single largest party. Under democracy, government should be formed as per provisions of constitution. It is not always that single largest party that forms the government. While coalition partners have polled 2.25 crore votes, BJP has polled 1.31 crore votes.

Let BJP understand who has majority. It is sad that this basics has to be taught to BJP.
