Paper bag DIYs in simple steps, learn how to make them at home

Whether you are bored at home or you are just looking for a way to release your creative juices, arts and crafts are one of the best options available to you. One of the most useful crafts you can come up with is the making of a paper bag. Step away from your regular brown bags and get creative with this easy DIY paper bag, and use it to gift your friends and family.

Materials Required

• Paper (preferably craft paper)
• Glue
• Scissors
• Pencil
• Ruler
• Rope or ribbon
• Decoration materials (glitter, sequins, markers) (optional)

Steps

1. Using a ruler, cut the piece of paper 9.5 x 15 inches (or 24 x 38 cm). If you want, you can also decorate the paper
2. To assemble the bag, place the sheet of paper face down in front of you- decorated side down. Make sure the orientation is landscape
3. Fold the bottom edge (long) of the paper up 2 inches (or 5 cm). After making a sharp crease, unfold it
4. Lightly fold the paper in half to locate the centre points, and make two marks (up and down)
5. Fold the short side to the centerline, and make 2 more points at the crease. Do this for both short sides. You should now have 6 points
6. Turn the paper around and fold the right and left sides to the centre line. Where they overlap, glue them
7. Flip the bag over so that the glued side is down and the open side (on the bottom) is facing you
8. Fold the creases on the long sides inwards to create the look of the sides of the bag. Try folding them equally (3.8cm)
9. In step 3, you folded the bottom of the paper. Locate that crease, and fold it upwards around 4 inches or 10 cm
10. When you open the bottom, you will see that the two inward-facing creases pop open. Fold these down, making it look like there are two triangles with a rectangle in the middle
11. Fold the top and bottom of this rectangle to the centre of the triangles, and glue them together. It should now look like the bottom of your bag
12. You can now open your bag. Using a punch, make four holes on the top of your bag and add the rope or ribbon through them to form your handles
13. Your paper bag is ready.
