Paper gun: How to make this fancy toy for kids this Diwali season

A paper gun is a much-loved toy, that kids generally want to play with during Diwali. This year, let's switch to using a paper gun, which is a great toy and completely safe to play with too. It can be very attractive to the kids as different colours of papers can be used to make this DIY paper gun in a few simple steps. Follow these simple instructions and involve your kids in the enjoyable process of making a DIY paper gun at home this Diwali.

How to make a paper gun - Pistol with a slide

• All you need for this DIY paper gun is two sheets of different coloured paper. Begin with folding a letter-size paper into half, lengthwise. Smooth the paper to make it as flat as possible and keep the edges closely aligned. Fold the paper into half again and bring the edge of the paper to the bottom.
• Repeat the step one and continue folding in the same direction till you get a long strip of folded paper. Follow the same steps for the second sheet of paper. You will now have two strips of long folded paper one of which will be used for the barrel and other for the handle.

• Take one folded strip and fold it horizontally. Fold the end of the folded strip down at a 90-degree angle. Open the last two folds so that you have a long strip again and fold the end of the strip along the previous fold lines. Take the left side of the fold and turn it along the centre to align to the right side to resemble the shape of number seven.
• Slide the other paper through the loop-like opening that will form the handle of the paper gun. Now, for your DIY paper gun, fold the other long strip horizontally while you go from left to right. Insert this through the opening of the handle and this will form the barrel of the paper gun.

• Use the other piece of folded paper and fold it on one end upwards at a 90-degree angle & also at the other end in a similar 90-degree angle leaving four inches in the centre.
• Fold both the ends at 90-degree and align them carefully. 
• Now, slide the barrel piece of the paper into the pocket formed by the fold created with the 90-degree angles. Your paper gun is ready. Pull it back and slide forward to use it.
