Born in 1950 in Karnataka, Indian author Sudha Murthy is one of the most loved Indian writers. She is presently the chairperson of Infosys Foundation which supports the underprivileged sections of society. Murthy has written novels, short stories, non-fictional pieces, and books for children too and has been awarded the R.K. Narayan Award for Literature, the Padma Shri, and the Attimabe Award. Dollar Bahu is a story of Vinuta’s adjustment to her new life after marriage in a house. Vinuta's mother-in-law constantly compares her with the elder daughter-in-law or the 'dollar bahu'.
