There is something very special about giving out homemade sweets during Christmas. Try out these delicious simple ideas to make lovely food gifts for friends and family.

Toffee Bites

Ingredients: Butter, granulated sugar, pure vanilla extract, pinch kosher salt, semisweet chocolate chips, toasted chopped pecans, and flaky sea salt for garnish

Method: In a saucepan add butter and let it melt. Add sugar then let dissolve and bring to a boil. Whisk constantly to combine them until mixture turns a soft caramel colour. Remove pan from heat and stir in vanilla and a pinch of salt. Pour toffee mixture into a silicone ice tray. Immediately top each square with chocolate chips. Let it sit for two minutes and then spread chocolate all over. Sprinkle pecans and flaky sea salt and refrigerate about 30 minutes.

Snowman Spoons

Ingredients: Semisweet chocolate, candy cane spoons, hot chocolate, mini marshmallows, mini chocolate chips, regular chocolate chips, snowcaps and thin pretzel sticks

Method: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. In a small microwave-safe bowl, melt chocolate in 30-second intervals with stirring in between until it becomes smooth. Dip each candy cane spoon into melted chocolate, tap off excess, and transfer them to the prepared baking sheet. Create snowman bodies with mini marshmallows and press in a mini chocolate chip for eyes, chocolate chip for hats and small pieces of the pretzel as hands. Serve with hot chocolate.

Candy and Cookie Bark

Ingredients: Bar mint chocolate, 100 Calorie Packs Oreo Thin Crisps, three medium peppermint candy canes

Method: Line a baking sheet with foil. Melt chocolate in the microwave stirring every 10 to 15 seconds. Stir in 1 cup crumbled cookies and scrape onto lined pan. Immediately sprinkle with crushed candy canes and pat in slightly. Refrigerate about 45 minutes. Cut in uneven pieces. Refrigerate airtight with wax paper between layers.
