The La Tomatina festival from Spain is a well-known phenomenon. People gather around and indulge in a tomato fight for pure entertainment and fun. The festival was portrayed in a very fun way in a song sequence for the film Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara where the cast of the film was seen playing with tomatoes. Interestingly, people in Gomatapura, South India have their own version of the La Tomatina festival with a twist. People in this village of South India annually celebrate the festival of Goraihabba where people indulge in throwing and playfully fighting with cow dung after they collect it from cattle farmers.

The festival also includes people from Kairuppala and other nearby villages if Andhra Pradesh. It takes place one day after the Ugadi festival, people take part in throwing cow dung reportedly in the name of Goddess Bhadrakali. As per reports, it is believed by people that participating in this festival brings prosperity, good health and sufficient rain in the villages. Some participants also get injured in the playful cow dung war but it is believed by the villagers that injuries occurred while playing the war will heal within three days.
