Custard has always been a part of the desserts you love to eat after your meal. The addition of flavours and essence in a custard recipe adds more of a yummier side to it. Making custard at home is very simple. Here is a quick guide for how to make the best creamy vanilla custard at home.

How to make vanilla custard at home

Ingredients

For making vanilla custard at home, you will need a lot of butter, three to four cups of milk, corn starch, ten tablespoons of sugar and little vanilla extract. For those of you prefer adding eggs to this recipe, you can add two wholesome beaten eggs in your custard to give it a spongy texture. Note that this is an oven-free recipe and you can make it very quickly without needing any extra requirements.

Step 1

Begin with taking three cups of milk in a pan and then add half a cup of corn starch and eight tablespoons sugar to it. Remember you can add sugar as per your taste preferences. Stir everything in one direction keeping the pan on a very low flame for better results. Stir properly till all the sugar dissolves. When the milk gets hot, add your choice of custard mixture to it. Add two tablespoons of vanilla essence to it.  Keep stirring till the custard sauce starts to thicken gradually.

Step 2

Once the sauce begins to thicken, continue to simmer it even more. We want the custard to become even thicker. Pour the vanilla custard in a bowl or a dish, and let it cool for some time. You can cover the pan with a cotton cloth, and let it cool down. After it cools down completely, keep your custard in the refrigerator to freeze. After a few hours, your delicious and spongy vanilla custard is ready to serve.

You can also add bread, crushed biscuits, fruits jelly and a lot more in your custard if you want it to taste differently. Many people also add crushed nuts in the custard mixture to give it a crispy texture. Serve your vanilla custard post-meal, and it is a true delight.
