Crawford Market

Location: Lokmanya Tilak Marg, Dhobi Talao, Fort area, south Mumbai

Crawford Market is a popular market to buy items like fruit, vegetables, spices, food, flowers, birds, fish, other pets, and knick-knacks at wholesale prices. It is known for its hectic and crowded location. It specialises in wholesale fruit and vegetables but also sells other items, including imported food and toys. It is an old-style market, located in a historic colonial building. It is now officially renamed as Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Mandai.

Zaveri Bazaar

Location: Between Crawford Market and Mumbadevi temple.

Zaveri Bazaar, Mumbai’s famous gold market, is one of the largest gold markets in India. It is a jumble of narrow lanes, where hundreds of jewellery shops are located which sell gems and jewellery. It is estimated that more than half of India’s gold trade originated from this place. But you should be warned beforehand that the items include a lot of fakes.
