Indian chef Vikas Khanna has carved a noteworthy niche for himself in the culinary industry. He has made the nation proud many times through his notable contributions. The chef has appeared as a judge on the Indian cooking reality show, Masterchef. He is also a prominent author. Reportedly Vikas has written around 28 books on cooking including a children's book titled as, A Tree Named Ganga. But we also have many other reasons to be proud of Vikas Khanna as the chef has also represented the nation at an international level.

Here are all the times when the Indian and the International chef truly made the nation proud

Achieving the Michelin Star

Vikas Khanna established his very first restaurant, Junoon in New York on December 2, 2010. The restaurant also good positive reviews especially by the New York Times' Sam Sifton. Vikas's restaurant also received its first Michelin star which was a huge honour. Vikas Khanna's restaurant Junoon was one of the first Indian restaurants in New York to be awarded a star by the prestigious Michelin Guide. 

Working with Gordon Ramsay

Vikas Khanna first got the opportunity to meet the renowned international chef Gordon Ramsay in the year 2007. Ramsay started including Vikas on his television shows as a representative of the Indian cuisines. Vikas also appeared in one of the episodes of the show, Kitchen Nightmares Season One as a mentor. He also graced the show, Hell's Kitchen Season Six which was run by Gordon Ramsay.

Cooking for former President Obama and his family

In what can be termed as a great honour, Vikas Khanna got the opportunity to cook for the former President Barrack Obama and his family at the White House. The chef got this honourable opportunity twice. Reportedly, Vikas prepared a sattvik meal for the President and his family in the year 2010. He went on to prepare a Himalayan meal for the Obamas once again in the year 2014. Vikas Khanna was invited to the White House on many occasions during Barrack Obama's presidential term.
