World Heart Day 2018 | Ajay Devgn, Sachin Tendulkar An Others Raise Awareness About Sudden Cardiac Arrest


People across the globe commemorate World Heart Day on Saturday, September 29, and, several eminent personalities joined the initiative.

As people across the globe celebrate World Heart Day on Saturday, September 29, netizens are talking about heart-related illnesses and how to cut its risk. The World Heart Federation and the World Health Organisation celebrated the first World Heart Day on September 29, 2000, in order to raise awareness about cardiovascular diseases, including heart diseases and strokes. The initiative that has now gained momentum is commemorated every year on the same date in over 100 countries. To mark this day, in recent years, several world's iconic landmarks, monuments, and heritage buildings are illuminated in red. 

This year, in India, several eminent personalities have joined the initiative. Several Bollywood celebrities, politicians, government organisations and fitness experts have extended their message on social media encouraging people to adopt a healthy living.

Ministry of Health, Government of India, has raised awareness marking the World Heart Day. In a Twitter post the organisation stated, "As greater goals are achieved through small actions, this #WorldHeartDay make a promise to beat heart diseases with simple efforts in maintaining a healthy lifestyle. #MakeAHeartPromise"

Ajay Devgn

Bollywood actor Ajay Devgn extended a message to raise awareness about heart illness on the occasion of the World Heart Day. He shared a video which showed how one can try to save someone suffering a cardiac arrest. He captioned the video saying, "Lend your hands to save a heart. #WorldHeartDay"


Bollywood actress Kajol also took to Twitter and posted the same video shared by husband Ajay Devgn and said, "Let's spread the message of Sudden Cardiac Arrest Awareness Initiative. #WorldHeartDay Will be speaking more about it later.."

Sachin Tendulkar

Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar also joined hands to raise awareness about cardiovascular diseases. Marking the World Heart Day he took to Twitter and wrote, "Nothing’s more precious than human life. On this #WorldHeartDay, I bat for @CSI2018Mumbai and @MCGM_BMC’s Sudden Cardiac Arrest Awareness Initiative and pledge to learn Hands-Only CPR. Lend your hands to save a heart today."
