A temple at home or a puja room is usually installed in a Hindu household although different cultures may also make a temple at home according to their beliefs. A temple usually plays an integral part of the household as it congregates the culture with the customs and traditions. It is where people pray and deliver puja offerings during festivals and on a daily basis. Here are some of the things to keep in mind while making a temple at home.

Temple at home

The size of the temple does not matter as it a place where you connect yourself with the religious customs or the spiritual self. You can construct a temple at a shelf or it can even be as luxurious as you want according to the space available and the usage that may differ per person. Some people prefer to make a temple at a shelf for the comfort of praying and delivering puja offerings while standing. Whereas some people dedicate a whole room for exclusive praying purposes. Puja room has become a major comfort for the modern-day households as it enables them to pray at home each day and unlike the ancient era, they don't have to visit a temple outside each day.

The direction of where you sit is important and it is believed that praying while facing the west direction will bring you more positivity as compared to other directions. It is also said to place your puja room away from the washroom area as it is considered inauspicious. Ringing a bell while doing puja is also credited for eradicating the negativity from the house.

Positivity

It is believed that the incense sticks and candles that you burn inside the house create a positive environment. A good aroma brings good vibrations into your house thus making you feel pure and more connected to the divine. Similarly lighting a candle or a diya (small oil lamp) also indicates a person's spiritual offerings thus increasing the positive vibrations in the temple and thus the house.

A temple is a place at home where the whole family gathers to offer their gratitude to the divine. Home temple brings a sense of religious sanctuary to the home and is thus believed to bring peace and harmony to the worshipper and the house.
