Goa is expected to become a key player in the global cruise travel industry after the introduction of the highly anticipated launch of an eco-friendly, state of the art terminal at Mormugao Port. This facility would cater to the requirements of both domestic, and international cruise-liners, elevating Goa 's relevance similar to the ports of Mumbai, Kochi, and Kolkata.
What's expected of the new international cruise terminal?
Spanning 9,960 square meters, the new International Cruise Terminal will feature an impressive 24 immigration counters and 10 check-in counters, ensuring a seamless experience for travelers. A dedicated waiting lounge and baggage carousels will enhance passenger convenience. The Domestic Cruise Terminal will also be equipped with 12 check-in counters, a waiting area, and essential baggage services.
Beyond these functional amenities, the terminal promises a rich array of facilities including duty-free shops, lounges, a diverse food court, and a ferry terminal. Landscaped gardens and a well-planned internal road network will create an inviting atmosphere for visitors. This ambitious project aims to position India as a leader in deep-sea, coastal, river, and yacht cruises, with Goa at the forefront.
As India prepares to accommodate up to 1,000 world-class vessels, the new terminal represents a significant leap forward for cruise travel in the country. Industry experts predict that Goa will soon become a preferred destination for cruise enthusiasts, bolstering not only tourism but also the local economy.
Goa ' relevance as one of most sought-after tourist spots in India both globally and domestically makes the possibility of it emerging as a premier cruise hub higher.
