China plans to design a Panda Park larger than Disneyland

China plans to design a Panda Park 110 times larger than Disneyland, predicting a foot-fall of over 20 million annually. The Government wants to create a habitat to conserve Pandas, as well as create a tourist-friendly park.

City of Chengdu, the Southwestern province of China nurtures a fluffy treasure- the giant Panda. Expanding a home for these cuddle-worthy creatures, China plans to design a new Giant Panda National Park.

Wobbling on the edge of extinction for decades now, the Panda census in the wild merely 1,864 currently residing in China. Most of those nestled in zoos around the world are first-bred at the Chengdu Panda Base. 

The base entices around 3.5 million visitors per year, with plans to further stretch. 

President Xi Jinping’s Government hosted an international competition to entreat concepts for a ‘Panda Capital.’ Sasaki, the global design was picked to prosper with a plan that covered three new development sites- a wildlife research center, a lakeside village and a gigantic park linked to public transit. Setting its sight on converting the site to conserve habitats for Pandas, they plan to devise a cultural-authentic tourist destination.

The extension of the existing Panda base will overwhelm Disneyland in size with a plan that has the potential to be 110 times the size of Disneyland that approximately covers 85 acres of land. The Panda Park is foreseeing a tourist turnout of over 20 million annually, exceeding the foot-fall of Disneyland in the United States.

Located outside the downtown area, the park will comprise of botanical gardens, wetland park, and a sports park. Visitors can also leverage the opportunity to acquaint themselves with the lives of Pandas and interact with them.

The researchers will emphasize on training Pandas born in captivity, to survive in the wild. 

The chief challenge in this project will be maintaining an acute balance between conserving the environment and at the same time indulging in urban expansion.  

Now, once you’re done fondling the furry beast in your mind, here’s are a few Panda fun facts to keep the party going- 
1.    Pandas can poop as much as 28 kilos per day
2.    They go from pink, blind and hairless as cubs to black and white and furred in about three weeks. 
3.    They sleep for 10-16 hours a day and can eat up to 27 pounds.

Having said that, a Panda’s life literally involves- eat, sleep and repeat. Now, who doesn't want that?
